'Magic' 65p cleaning paste 'wipes away' grease on oven glass in just 15 minutes

Cleaning expert Joyce French at HomeHow.co.uk has shared a simple two-ingredient homemade paste for cleaning grubby oven doors.

Rather than using a specific oven-cleaning product, the expert suggested using baking soda and water.

Joyce said: “Is there anything more frustrating than a greasy oven door, especially when you’re captivated by your culinary creations baking inside?

“Here’s a simple hack to restore its shine – make a paste with baking soda and water.

“Spread it generously over the glass door and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes, allowing the baking soda to work its magic on the grease.

“Finally, wipe away the paste with a clean cloth to reveal a sparkling oven door, good as new.”

Baking soda, which is also known as bicarbonate of soda, can be found at the back of the cupboard or in most supermarkets from as little as 65p.

Baking soda is a cleaning solution that’s known for its natural abrasiveness and ability to absorb unpleasant odours.

The natural solution is an alkaline compound that can also be used with vinegar or lemon juice to create an effective cleaning method.

When mixed with an acid like vinegar, baking soda bubbles and produces carbon dioxide gas which can lift particularly stubborn stains.

Baking soda can also be used to clean toilets, drains, grout and laundry.

Some people suggest using a dishwasher tablet to clean an oven door.

Simply dip the dishwasher tablet in warm water and rub it all over the stubborn stains on the oven door.

The enzymes in the dishwasher tablet should break down and remove the stains.
