Lucifer season 5, part 2: Dan Espinoza and God set to 'team up' after latest clue

The fifth season of Lucifer is still keeping fans hanging after last year’s epic midseason cliffhanger. With new episodes finally arriving on Netflix at the end of May, new insider knowledge has teased some surprising moments for Detective Dan Espinoza (played by Kevin Alejandro).

Lucifer Morningstar’s (Tom Ellis) office nemesis Detective ‘Douche’ Espinoza is set to have the shock of his life when the popular Netflix series returns next month.

Thanks to some devilish trickery by Lucifer’s evil twin brother, Michael, the hot-headed detective has finally learned the truth about his colleague’s Biblical secret.

Now Lucifer and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) have finally reunited with their father, God (Dennis Haysbert), season 5b will undoubtedly tackle some awkward conversations.

New clues from TVLine’s Matt Webb Mitovich have confirmed Dan Espinoza will also get the chance to commune with the Heavenly Father.

His stunned reaction to all the supernatural goings on that have been happening right under his nose are set to be explored in the fourth episode of season five, part two.

Mitovich revealed: “The ‘Doucifer’ dynamic is pointedly explored in the fourth episode of 5B, titled “Daniel Espinoza: Naked and Afraid’.”

He then teased this particular episode was ‘one of the wilder rides TV has taken me on’.

More importantly, fans are also desperate to know what will happen when Dan and God find out they have a surprising connection.

Sadly, Charlotte was killed for a second time by Marcus Pierce/Cain (Tom Welling), and Dan continues to blame himself for her death into the fifth season.

Depending on just how vengeful the show’s version of God is, the Almighty could turn jealous when he discovers his ex had managed to find love among the humans.

Alternatively, there’s also a chance the unlikely pair could form an unexpected bond over the loss of Charlotte.

As Lucifer is also set to return for a surprise sixth and final season, could Dan and God eventually devise a way to bring Charlotte and Goddess back?

After all, Tricia Helfer did make a surprise appearance in the 1940s noir special, It Never Ends Well For the Chicken.

With the series’ most prominent guest star potentially waiting in the wings for a return, God’s arrival could prove to be the best thing to ever happen to Detective Douche.

Filming has recently wrapped up on Lucifer’s final instalment, so fans are hoping it won’t be long until all becomes clear.

Lucifer Season 5, Part 2 will be released on Friday, May 28 on Netflix.
