London horror: Boy, 13, stabbed 'multiple times' on way to school in capital

The 13-year-old boy was attacked on the Isle of Dogs in East London. The boy was knifed on Parsonage Street near Island Gardens’ DLR station. He is understood to be a pupil at George Green School and suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper body.

The child was taken by ambulance to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

An Air Ambulance also landed at Millwall Park to support the paramedics.

Eyewitnesses say a schoolbag was within an area on Parsonage Street cordoned off with police tape this afternoon.

The shocking incident happened just before 9am.

A Section 60 – increasing stop and search powers for police – has been placed on the area.

Police have also been deployed to the victim’s school.

According to MyLondon, a note sent to the local community by Insp Colin Reed said: “Local units along with the London Ambulance Service have attended and found a 13-year-old male with multiple stab wounds to his upper body.

“Following an initial assessment by the Ambulance Service and HEM’s the male was conveyed to the Royal London Hospital where his condition is still being treated as critical.

“The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are with the male.”

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to get in touch via 101 quoting reference Cad 1321/29Apr.

It comes just days after a teenager was fatally stabbed earlier this week.

The 18-year-old was stabbed to death in broad daylight.

It also took place just yards away from where his brother was killed four years ago.

Junior Jah was attacked on Monday afternoon in Canning Town, east London.

The grim stabbing means the death toll of teenage stabbings this year in London, now at 12, is likely to surpass last year’s record, of 15.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD 4050/26April.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has been repeatedly criticised over his record on policing in the capital.

Shaun Bailey, the Conservative mayoral candidate for the upcoming elections, told the Telegraph: “This is the twelfth fatal stabbing in London this year and the second time in four years that a member of the Jah family has been knifed to death.

“I can’t begin to imagine what the family are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with them at this awful time.

“Sadiq Khan keeps telling us that London is going in the right direction. But after cutting police budgets by £38million and refusing to take responsibility for violence on our streets, knife crime has increased by 60 percent and young Londoners are being killed.

“The mayor says it will take 10 years to fix. But we don’t have even 10 months. If the next mayor doesn’t cut crime within his first hundred days, we risk going back to the violence that we saw before coronavirus hit.”
