The left back underwent a scan on Tuesday to determine the severity of the problem and, while Liverpool do not think the injury is serious, they are not prepared to take any chances, according to The Times.
Instead Kostas Tsimikas will return to deputising duty for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The Greece international has proven to be an able understudy this season, providing two assists in eight games across all competitions.
Robertson’s name has been added to a growing list of injuries at Anfield as Liverpool’s injury woes of last season seem to be returning with a vengeance.

However, Klopp received a much-needed boost as he prepares to face Mikel Arteta’s side as Sadio Mane participated in training this week and Jordan Henderson is also expected to be in contention for the league clash this weekend.

‘He’s been so positive from the start, to be honest,’ he said. ‘I was talking about mental strength before, as soon as it happened, the things he was saying, he talks like he’s been through it all before and he’s a 30-odd-year-old player.
‘He’s incredible. He’s got a great mindset, he’s done all his work, he’s progressing really well.’
Title-hopefuls Liverpool return to action as they host the in-form Arsenal, who sit just two points behind them despite a stuttering start to the season.
Klopp’s men however have won every Premier League game at Anfield against the Gunners since their thrilling 3-3 draw in January 2016, and have won eight of the 13 matches across all competitions against them since then too.
