Liverpool are considering a move for Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports. The 23-year-old has been one of the Parkhead club’s standout talents this season, scoring 20 goals from 34 appearances in all competitions.
Despite Celtic’s domestic and European struggles, Edouard has more than proved his worth in attack with his impressive performances generating speculation over the possibility of a move away in the near future.
The forward has repeatedly been linked with a switch to Arsenal, who are said to be long-term admirers with reports of their interest surfacing before the end of last season.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen to add a new striker during the summer months in order to secure a long-term replacement for the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
However, the north London club are likely to be joined by Liverpool in the race for Edouard’s signature, according to Ian McGarry on The Transfer Window Podcast.
It was claimed that the Reds are eyeing a move for the Frenchman as Jurgen Klopp seeks attacking reinforcements ahead of next season.

Liverpool have struggled to trouble opposition goalkeepers since the turn of the year, with their toothlessness in attack playing a major role in their rapid fall from grace.
First-choice striker Roberto Firmino has failed to live up to expectations this season, with the Brazil international scoring just six times in the Premier League since the beginning of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Diogo Jota has impressed when called upon but has been held back by injuries, while Divock Origi appears to be nearing the end of his Anfield career after plummeting down the pecking order.
Liverpool’s transfer model has seen the club invest heavily in young, unproven talent in order to reap the rewards once they have developed enough to perform at their full potential.
The club’s interest in Edouard could see the forward follow in the footsteps of Andrew Robertson and Joe Gomez in becoming the latest star to flourish at the upper echelons of the game after sealing a move to Anfield.
He is very highly rated at Celtic and has earned comparisons to Swedish icon Henrik Larsson since joining the Hoops from French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2018.
Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker claimed in August that Edouard would be a welcome addition to any club in the Premier League, citing his formidable ability in front of goal and the potential for rapid growth as two key factors that could see him make a high-profile switch in the near future.
“There’s a style and panache about Edouard that sets him apart from the rest,” said Walker. “Absolutely, he could play in the Premier League or anywhere else in Europe for that matter.
“I think he’d be a huge success at one of the top six clubs in England. At 22, his game will only improve and I suppose the biggest wish for Celtic fans is that their French Eddy stays as long as the magical Swede Larsson did, but I think it’s highly unlikely.”
In recent years, Celtic have gained something of a reputation for cultivating talented players that go on to thrive in England’s top flight.
Victor Wanyama, Kieran Tierney and Virgil van Dijk are among those to have successfully made the transition, and it seems as though Edouard has every chance of becoming the next Parkhead export to achieve big things in the Premier League with either Liverpool or Arsenal.
