Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, garnered popularity after sharing her cleaning tips and recommendations on social media and TV. The cleaning enthusiast has managed to gain over 4.1 million followers on Instagram. Now, fans of hers have created their own social media groups dedicated to cleaning and tidying tips.
“I took off the cushions, put them in the wash and they came out like new.”
A fourth penned: “I washed my cream one. It did say not to on the tag but I did them on a hand wash setting.”
Another replied: “I’ve washed mine at 20C and they’ve been fine.”
Another user explained their in-depth method.
They said: “I always wash my sofa covers in the machine on 30C, no higher (they told me not to at store) but I have always done it with no issues, having kids means I have to.
“I too have water marks all the time from kids leaving cups on them and them spilling.
“With the rest of the sofa, if you’re going to use any product I’d deffo patch test an area out of sight first.
“If you get a light damp cloth of soapy water and make sure you try to clean it all and not just patches and not wet it too much, it should dry equally.
“On worse areas, you could give more of a scrub and dry with a hairdryer.”
Other users suggested using Dr Beckmann’s carpet stain remover, Flash Bicarbonate Spray and Astonish Carpet and Upholstery spray.
“Dr Beckmanns carpet stain remover – 1000 percent – do the whole area, seat/back/arms/sides or you’ll get more patches but it will bring it up a treat,” said one person.
Another replied: “For the arms of the sofa, I used Flash with Bicarbonate.
“Spray it on a damp cloth, and give it a scrub, they came out so clean.”
