Jurgen Klopp reveals Mo Salah ‘looks like he WILL be available to face Arsenal’, with Liverpool boss hailing winger as ‘tough cookie’ following foot injury against Brighton

  • Salah was substituted with an injury during Liverpool’s victory over Brighton
  • Egyptian has been phenomenal for Reds so far this season in all competitions
  • His penalty at Brighton was his 28th goal this season – 20th in Premier League
  • Liverpool seeking to make it nine Premier League wins in a row on Wednesday

Liverpool have been given a huge boost on the eve of their clash with Arsenal as Mo Salah ‘looks like he will be available’ to play.

The Egyptian suffered a foot injury against Brighton in Liverpool’s 2-0 win at the weekend and had been a doubt for the trip to the Emirates.

But Klopp said: ‘Mo is a tough cookie and he, swollen painful yesterday, less so today, he was ready to train today so we’ll see how it looks. It looks like he will be available.’

The Egyptian star headed straight down the tunnel after being substituted against the Seagulls on Saturday, just five minutes after he had coolly dispatched a penalty to put his team 2-0 up in the second half.

The Reds are just four points behind leaders Man City with two games in hand, although in-form Arsenal are likely to put up a real challenge.

EFA spokesman Walid El-Atar confirmed that Salah’s injury is a minor one and he will be 100% fit to play Senegal games on the 25th and 29th of this month.

‘The national team medical staff are always in contact with Salah and Liverpool medical staff,’ El-Atar said.

‘I can say that his [Salah’s] injury is minor and it will not prevent him from participating in Senegal games.’

On City dropping points, Klopp added: ‘I watched City for 65 minutes for analysis reasons, just to have a look, I don’t often have the time, Palace and City both did really well. I saw the result and was surprised.

‘Why should it impact our mood? In fact, we play Arsenal and are still four points behind, you can’t just count points away at Arsenal, we have to play this game, if we want to reach something in this Premier League and you’re not top, you need to win all your games and need them to drop points, it all depends on our results.’
