JUDE BELLINGHAM admits Borussia Dortmund have ‘let the fans down’ after their shock Europa League exit to Rangers.

The German giants were beaten 4-2 on home turf by the Gers last week but still headed to Ibrox yesterday in confident spirits of overturning that advantage.

But the Bundesliga side were held to a 2-2 draw by Rangers to ensure that it was the Scottish Premiership club that progressed to the last-16 of the Europa League.

England international Bellingham, 18, still managed to add to his burgeoning reputation with another impressive display.

And the star, who scored in both legs, claimed afterwards that Dortmund had failed to perform to their maximum over the tie.

The gutted teen, who is wanted by Liverpool, told BT Sport: “It was brilliant to play in. A good team, a good test.

“We didn’t have the bite we had in the first half. It’s just one of those nights, we didn’t take all our chances and they took theirs, fair play to them.

“We’ve let the fans, the staff and ourselves down. If we look at ourselves in the mirror, we’ll realise we could’ve done more.”

Despite the setback for his team, Bellingham’s display once again caught the eye.

And former Manchester United star Owen Hargreaves, watching the game for BT Sport, urged the Premier League’s big boys to splash the cash and sign the ex-Birmingham ace.

He said: “This kid is so special – probably one of my favourite players in all of Europe to watch. At 18-years-old, I don’t think it’s normal how consistent he is.

“In terms of goal and assists, he’s stepped that up this season and he offers so much.

“If I was any of the top four teams in the Premier League then I’d be getting the chequebook out and writing the cheque right now. He is too good to pass up.

“Jude Bellingham is the real deal.”
