Jamie Oliver’s sausage bake is the ultimate comfort food with just 5 ingredients


There is nothing worse than struggling to come up with new ideas for what to make for dinner, especially if you are looking for a meal that is both tasty and affordable.

Jamie Oliver’s “comforting” sausage bake is not only flavourful but incredibly easy as this recipe only takes five ingredients to make.

Writing in his cookbook 5 Ingredients, Quick and Easy Food, Jamie said: “The clue’s in the title with this one – it’s not the prettiest recipe in the world, but boy is it comforting and super-delicious. Let the recipe flex to what you’ve got in the house.”

You can use whatever you have in your house or can easily find in the supermarket for this dinner. If you do not have white beans, use jarred or tinned beans, or you can even use lentils. For tomatoes, you can swap them for tinned tomatoes or passata instead.

This is the perfect dinner to make if you want some simple comfort food as it only takes five minutes to prepare this recipe before placing it in the oven to cook for 45 minutes.

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 180C or Gas Mark 4.

Prepare the ingredients. Halve the cherry tomatoes, peel and slice the garlic and tear the bread into bite-sized chunks.

Place the tomatoes, garlic and bread in a roasting tray. Also, pour in the beans along with the juice, and then drizzle the roasting tray with one tablespoon of olive oil and one tablespoon of red wine vinegar.

Add a splash of water to the tray and mix everything together. Slice each sausage in half and dot them around the bake, making sure to press them into the beans and tomatoes.

Bake in the oven for 45 minutes or until everything is golden, bubbling and delicious.
