The difference between travelling to a country on the red list and green list is huge.
The Government advice warns: “You should not travel to red list countries or territories.”
If you have been in a red-list area in the last 10 days, you can only enter the UK if you are a UK or Irish national, or UK resident.
You would also need to book, pay for and take a COVID-19 test on days two and eight of your return, complete a passenger locator form, and isolate for 10 full days in a quarantine hotel upon arrival in England.
The quarantine hotel isn’t free either – you’ll need to book and pay in advance. It costs about £1,750 for one adult and £650 for an additional adult or child over 11.
If you don’t comply with the rules, you’ll face a £10,000 fine or could even be jailed.
