Interior trends 2021: Experts name their top trends for spring – and they’re not florals

0

Lucy Ackroyd, Head of Design at Christy has put together her interior trends for spring 2021 based on her expert insight and current trends on Pinterest, Easy and Google. Spring is traditionally known for its bright florals and pastel shades but this year it seems homeowners are looking for inspiration elsewhere.

Dulux named “brave ground” as its colour of the year for 2021.

Some of the other shades available include stonewashed linen and oatmeal.

Ms Ackroyd said natural tones work well in “almost any room” of the house as long as they match your style.

She added: “Combine neutral walls with beige, oatmeal and biscuity accents in your soft furnishings and round the look off with furniture in natural materials such as reclaimed wood, hemp and rattan to create a fresh spring look.”

Statement tiles

Statement tiles have been trending on Instagram recently, with people going for mosaic patterns and hexagonal tiles.

Mark Fullilove, Digital Marketing Manager at Sanctuary Bathrooms said because bathrooms tend to be the smallest rooms in the home, it’s an area where you can “go wild”.

He said tiles are a great way to experiment with different textures and colours.

He explained further: “People are being more adventurous in their bathroom choices, moving away from what is considered conventional and challenging tradition which is reflected in the trend for wall and floor tiles with geometric patterns and shapes becoming more prominent.

“Many people try to steer away from them because they feel it can look dated quickly but this doesn’t have to be the case.

“The shape of the tiles offers incredible versatility from motifs, patterns, lines and even colours.

“It doesn’t just have to be a chequerboard or mosaic effect – recently, Instagrammers have even been using mosaic tiles to write bespoke messages or create intricate patterns on their bathroom floors and walls – the possibilities are endless!”
