Instagram down issues are surging in right now with users around the world experiencing a major, widespread outage.
Independent outage monitor Down Detector has registered a huge spike in Instagram reports as users took to social networking sites like Twitter to report a slew of issues.
Problems with the Instagram newsfeed refreshing along with a 5xx server error message have been reported.
At the time of writing, Down Detector UK has registered a peak of around 25,000 reports of Instagram down.
According to Down Detector stats, some 78 percent of affected users are experiencing issues with the Instagram news feed while others are reporting general website and login issues.
Downdetector.com meanwhile has registered over 125,000 reports of Instagram down, with other popular Facebook-owned services such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger also experiencing service issues today.
As the Instagram issues hit fans of the hugely popular photo sharing social network took to Twitter to report the problems they were facing.
One tweeted: “Coming to twitter to see if it’s just my whatsapp & instagram not working #instagramdown”.
While another posted: “Turning wifi on and off. Turning phone on and off. Switch to data. Instagram still down. Whatsapp still down. #instagramdown”.
One added: “When you realise it isn’t the Wifi and Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook are actually down #instagramdown”.
And another wrote: “Seeing Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp are down then realising I’m cut off from everyone”.
