Tennis legend Ashleigh Barty has forked out a whopping £2million on a stunning waterside holiday home in Queensland, Australia. The four-bedroom property occupies an entire half-floor of a new apartment complex which is still under construction, and boasts incredible views just 12 miles from the Gold Coast.
Australian outlet Real Estate claim that the 27-year-old will use the property as a ‘lock-and-leave’ holiday home for herself, her golf professional husband Garry Kissick and their son Hayden, having welcomed their first child in July of last year.
Construction is set to be completed in mid-2025 and Barty’s four-bedroom, three-bathroom home, in a complex called the Kloud, features stunning ocean views and a private balcony that serves as an entertainment deck.
The 12-storey building marks the first foray into the Glitter Strip luxury market for celebrity developer Graya. Inside the 41.25m-high tower at Palm Beach, there are soaring glass walls and a kitchen that features an integrated barbecue, large island dining bar and natural stone surfaces.
The open-plan living areas boast European oak floorboards that transform into a wool carpet when reaching the master bedroom complete with a walk-in robe and ensuite, walk-in twin shower, dual vanity, and freestanding bath.
Kloud comprises 23 apartments and a rooftop terrace on an 810square metre site, including two whole-floor penthouses, nine two-bedroom units, six three-bedroom units, and six four-bedroom apartments, including Barty’s.
After shocking the tennis world and retiring at the age of 25, Barty remains a brand ambassador for numerous companies and has published a series of children’s books. She has also put the finishing touches on her “forever” home in Brookwater, west of Brisbane, in addition to this holiday property.
Rob Gray, who headed up the development alongside brother Andrew, explained how Barty had initially enquired about pads in Brisbane before settling on the stunning Gold Coast tower apartment.
“Ash has inquired about some of our Brisbane apartments over a number of years and then she ended up securing a Kloud apartment,” Gray said.
“The proximity to the water afforded by the beachfront location on Jefferson Lane gives the apartments such a premium luxury feel, and Palm Beach offers that relaxed holiday lifestyle. Like myself, I assume Ash and her family will want to spend every weekend there.”
Gray also claimed that the project was named Kloud for its striking free-form design and there are five apartments currently listed for sale, with another four to come in April and the final release which will include two penthouses.
