Johnny Briggs was well-known and much-loved for his role of Mike Baldwin in Coronation Street. Amanda, who played his on-screen wife Alma Halliwell, joined Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain to remember the star following his death on February 28. She explained she was “very honoured” to play his wife and shared stories from the set of the long-running ITV soap.
“Mike Baldwin, he had the sort of stamp on it,” Amanda began. “I was very honoured to become his wife.
“I thought that was a sort of badge of honour that I became Mrs Badlwin, that meant something.”
Piers added: “He was a great actor wasn’t he Johnny? We saw that towards the end when he was portraying dementia, it was pretty powerful stuff.”
“Yes, I mean Johnny did a lot of work before all over the place and did a lot of films,” Amanda recalled.
