Many of us look forward to the point in the day where we can snuggle back under our duvets and go to sleep. However, to keep them clean and in good condition, it is important to regularly wash duvets. Read on to find out how often duvets need to be washed and whether they can be cleaned at home.
How often should you wash duvets?
Duvets do not need to be washed as frequently as bedding like duvet covers and pillow cases.
However, duvets should still be washed regularly.
Head of Testing at the Good Housekeeping Institute, Verity Mann, says duvets need to be washed every few months, or at least twice a year.

You can “use a normal spin setting”, but after the duvet has been washed ensure it is completely dry before using it again.
If a feather or down duvet can be washed at home, the Persil website explains to “wash it on a gentle cycle using a non-bio detergent”.
Again, make sure the duvet is well-aired and dry before it is used again.
