As the temperature dial reaches 25C in London, many people may find themselves unequipped to deal with the heat and hot weather.

The household hack works because as the ice melts in the bowl, the fan will pick up the cool air and blow it across the room.

While the trick may not be as effective as air conditioning, not many homes in the UK have air conditioning.

Another top tip is to close the windows, blinds and curtains to shut the hot air out.

While it may be tempting to open the windows, by doing so hot air from the outside will bring up the temperature in your home.

If you have a hot water bottle, you can fill it up with water and put it in the freezer.

Once frozen, the frozen water bottle can be taken out and placed by your feet, for example, to help cool you down.

Public Health England advised people to shy away from the sun between 11am to 3pm, which are the hottest times of the day.

Moreover, it’s strongly advised to remain hydrated by drinking plenty of water and to avoid dehydrating activities such as drinking alcohol and vigorous exercise.

Overheating can lead to dehydration, nausea and fatigue, which can be super risky if you are aged 75 and older.
