Twisted candles are all the rage, but they cost around £25 to buy pre-twisted. TikTokers have been making their own twisted candles for a fraction of the price by buying untwisted long candles for £2 online and twisting them in less than half an hour. Express.co.uk reveals how to make twisted candles, with help from TikTok users.
How to make twisted candles
TikToker @dis.__grace made a rainbow-themed LGBTQ display by making seven twisted candles and lining them up on her window sill.
To achieve this look, you’ll need to buy seven long candles in different colours: one red, one pink, one orange, one yellow, one green, one blue, and one purple.
The TikTok user said she let them sit in a large bowl of warm water for 15 minutes and then used a rolling pin on both sides of the middle section of each candle.
She then twisted this section twice and let the candles sit in cool water for 10 minutes.

If you want a more intricate design, you’ll need to follow a different method. Thankfully, there are plenty of other videos on TikTok to copy.
The most popular twisted candle TikTok video was made by @little_tasks, and 268,000 people have liked it.
The 23-year-old TikToker, Abby, shared exactly how she made twisted candles. She said: “I finally tried shaping candles and I’m obsessed.”
TikToker @johanna_shnider used a similar method, but put all of the candles in a sink full of warm water at once.
She left the extra-large candles, which she bought from eBay, in the water for about 20 to 30 minutes.
She then used a thick rolling pin to flatten the wax in the centre of a candle, but didn’t show how she achieved her finished look.
However, Johanna managed to make a whole range of candles in very unique shapes, presumably following the same method as described above.
