SERGI ROBERTO reportedly burst into tears in the Barcelona dressing room after fans booed him during their defeat to Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

The Catalans were thumped 3-0 at the Nou Camp and large sections of the 40,000 crowd singled out the midfielder for his performance.

Bayern – who beat Barcelona 8-2 when they last met – ran riot once again to embarrass the hosts in their own back yard.

The home supporters vented their frustration on Roberto, one of 16 who featured for Barca on the night.

Roberto played right-midfield rather than his usual centre-mid slot for the Champions League clash.

But despite the switch, fans did not cut him much slack before he was replaced by Yusuf Demir on 59 minutes.

The crowd dissent started with mild whistles towards the 29-year-old but his every touched was being loudly booed by the end of his game.

And it affected him so much, he was in floods of tears in the dressing room afterwards, according to AS.

Senior statesmen Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique were among those said to have comforted the Spaniard.

And although Roberto was given a torrid time by Bayern widemen Alphonso Davies and Leroy Sane, Pique leaped to his defence after the match.

The Barca vice-captain said: “The whistles towards Sergi Roberto are hurtful.

“I would like to remind people that he is a midfielder, not a winger. He has made a sacrifice to adapt to that position on the pitch.

“People are free to express themselves but I do not like the whistles, they do not help.

“I know the person, he is a spectacular human being and he wants more than anything for this club to be successful.

“I am hurt a lot by this.”
