A MOTHER and her 2-year-old daughter were rescued from a sinking car at the Susquehanna River on Sunday, as her husband shouted at cops to shoot him while swinging a knife.
According to Dauphin County District Attorney Francis Chardo, all three people were standing on top of a car in the river while the man was screaming “Shoot me, shoot me,”

Two city workers saw the car in the river near the Dock Street Dam around 3:30am and notified authorities.
Police attempted to calm the man down verbally but were forced to shoot at him when he turned a hunting knife on the woman.
It’s unknown if the man, identified by police as Miquel Maldanodo Jr., was actually shot but he slid from the car and into the river.
A search for Maldanodo Jr. is ongoing, according to the District Attorney.
A tower truck was used by the Harrisburg Bureau Fire Department to rescue the woman and child from the car.
The woman had injuries caused by her husband. Both she and the child were taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center. The two are expected to be okay.

Currently, the circumstances as to how the car ended up in the river are unknown. However, Chardo has confirmed that the incident wasn’t caused by a police chase.
Video of the harrowing rescue was shown on social media by the fire department.
“Additional resources were requested, including the balance of the city companies. One adult and a toddler were rescued, from the swift, icy waters just below Dock Street Dam,” read the caption of the post.
