The former US President and First Lady have separate bedrooms while on trips, according to the book The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump. This is because Mr Trump is said to like waking up far earlier than his wife at 5am and watching TV.
The couple have even decorated their separate quarters rooms to their own tastes, which feature opposite colour schemes.
The book reads: “No matter which of his properties he is visiting, Trump sleeps in a separate bedroom that has been decorated to his taste – he favours darker coloured walls and rugs, while Melania likes whites and light colours.
“Trump typically wakes around 5am, well before Melania, and turns on his television.”
The book, authored by Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan, adds: “The Trump family works together and sometimes vacations together, but they are used to having their own space and a lot of it.
“Ivanka, her husband, Jared, and their three children have their own separate mansion at Bedminster, Trump’s private golf club on over five hundred acres in New Jersey.
“Donald and Melania aren’t known for inviting their grandkids to cuddle with them in bed in the morning, as George H W Bush and his wife, Barbara, famously used to with their grandchildren.”
The couple were hit by divorce rumours earlier this year, something the former First Lady strongly denied recently.
According to a relationship expert, Mrs Trump was forced to “put her foot down” after a CNN report cited a former White House official as saying Mrs Trump had been paying daily visits to Trump Mar-a-Lago resort spa in West Palm Beach, Florida, since the Trumps’ exodus from the White House.
In response to the report, the Office of Melania Trump issued a statement via Twitter stressing that the former First Lady was “a private citizen” and no longer in office.
It said: “Sources in this article are not affiliated [with] her nor have insight into her thoughts or daily life. CNN’s FLOTUS Correspondent choosing to publish false gossip illustrates the media’s unhealthy obsession.”
Carole Ann Rice of Real Coaching told the Daily Star that Mrs Trump’s reaction was likely due to a “new sense of freedom” since her departure from Washington DC.
Ms Rice said: “Now that Melania isn’t the First Lady, she probably has a new sense of freedom now that she can speak out where she perhaps felt she couldn’t before out of decency and integrity to protect her man who is in the White House.
“So she is probably thinking ‘It is finally the time for me to speak up’ and maybe she’s thinking ‘enough is enough now’ and I would put my foot down.
“And it could also be a warning shot where she could start to get lawyers in on this – so it could be instead of it becoming a big issue, this could be her way of nipping it in the bud because she doesn’t want it escalating and it also warns others to keep away.”
