How do I know when my car is due an MOT?
If you don’t know when your motor is due for an annual check-up, you can use the Government’s Vehicle Enquiry service.
Every car needs an MOT every year unless it is under three years old.
It is illegal to drive without an MOT – and doing so could land you with a hefty £1,000 fine.
If your vehicle is more than three years old, you can’t drive without an MOT unless you’re on the way to the garage for your pre-booked MOT appointment.
When you go for an MOT, you should take with you your appointment letter, vehicle registration document or logbook (V5C) and latest MOT certificate, if you have one.
