Gutter cleaning: The FIVE consequences of not cleaning your gutters

0

Gutter cleaning becomes more of a problem in the spring months. People will have spent most of winter cooped up at home, and as such, left leaves and debris to clog them. Cleansing the mess could end up taking some time, but leaving it as is could have long-term effects.

What happens if you don’t clean your gutters?

The primary function of gutters is to make sure water drains in an orderly fashion.

When free from debris, they will protect the foundations of a home from water damage.

Without cleaning, overflowing water can cause a range of structural issues.

Roof damage

Roofs are poorly equipped to deal with pooling water and will bear the initial effects of clogged gutters.

Tiles and shingles will absorb the water and ultimately take on damage, allowing it to leak through.

Once rain has found a path through the roof, it can move on to the ceiling, ultimately causing further structural damage.
