An Airbnb renter who stole six bottles of champagne and bedding worth more than $3,000 from an influencer’s apartment has avoided a stint behind bars after a court heard he has since stopped taking drugs and turned his life around.
Gold Coast concreter Rodney Lucht, 40, was staying at a unit owned by Instagram influencer and personal coach Cassandra House in April 2018 when he helped himself to the luxury goods.
He broke into locked cupboards to steal the luxury bedding, which included Alex Perry towels and a quilt from designer fashion brand St Barts.

Lucht also stole doona covers and chocolates during his stay.
After pleading guilty to burglary offences in the Southport District Court, Lucht was given a 12-month prison term suspended for a year.
Crown prosecutor Stephanie Gallagher said the theft was ‘seemingly opportunistic’ and ‘in breach of privacy and trust’.
Lucht’s defence barrister Sarah Thompson told the court her client had a drug problem at the time of the burglary – but has since successfully kicked the habit.
