In fact, a petition has been launched to try and reverse the decision, created by a Morrisons employee.
The employee wrote: “As a Morrisons employee, I see daily the amount of elderly customers that use the card and save the points up year round to use for Christmas and other celebrations.
“Also the push to move exclusively to a mobile phone app may not suit the older generation who are sometimes (not always!) not tech savvy.
“I believe this is a severe mistake and needs reversing ASAP!”
The petition is close to its 1,000 signatures goal, after which the employee says he will present it to his employer.
