Britney Spears is receiving apologies, on “Saturday Night Live” at least.
The subject of the recently released “Framing Britney Spears” (now streaming on Hulu) appeared in the sketch show’s cold open this weekend, portrayed by cast member Chloe Fineman, as host of “Oops, You Did It Again.” The TV show “set” in Las Vegas, serves as a platform for people to make apologies.
Spears’ guests included New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (Pete Davidson), recently under fire for misreporting, or undercounting, coronavirus deaths in nursing homes, and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas (Aidy Bryant), who took a trip to Cancun as winter storms left many Texans without power in houses not designed to withstand the winter’s cold.
Bryant’s Cruz admitted he’s “in a little bit of hot water, which I’m told is a thing no one in Texas has.”
In real life, Cruz said his daughters told him they wanted to travel somewhere warmer, which the “SNL” Spears shutdown.
“Well, as someone who is often blamed for other people’s problems at a young age, maybe leave your daughters out of it, ’cause it could really mess with their heads,” she said.

Fineman’s Spears’ third guest of the evening was actress Gina Carano (Cecily Strong), who lost her role on “The Mandalorian” following controversial social media posts. Carano received backlash online for sharing a series of incendiary posts and memes mentioning Jeffrey Epstein and comparing conservatives in the U.S. to Holocaust victims.
Strong’s Carano lacked remorse. “Look, I never would’ve made that Nazi comparison if I’d known everybody was going to be such a Nazi about it,” she said.
In addition to hosting guests, Fineman’sSpears read a letter from a viewer who wrote: “Dear Britney, are you OK?”
“I get this question a lot, and I am perfectly OK. Everything is good, and I am not trying to send people subliminal messages through my videos,” said Fineman’s Spears before #FreeBritney flashed across the screen.
