Former Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis found dead near home gym, according to 911 audio

A series of 911 calls indicate former Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis was found unresponsive Monday in the workout area of a Florida home registered to his grandmother.

In one recording obtained by TMZ, a caller identified as Davis’ assistant tells the dispatcher she’s minutes from the house, where another woman found the 35-year-old athlete, who was last seen alive Saturday to the best of her knowledge.

She also warned there were guns somewhere in the home.

Authorities do not suspect foul play contributed to the retired two-time Pro-Bowler’s death.

In another call, a dispatcher asks the unidentified woman who seemingly found Davis if she had access to a defibrillator, which she said she did not. The woman on the line was then assured paramedics were on their way.

Davis was pronounced dead on the scene. His cause of death has not been determined.

Davis was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft and traded to the Colts in 2012. His final NFL season was in 2018, when he surprisingly retired during halftime of a game while playing for the Buffalo Bills. He later said it occurred to him that day he no longer belonged on a football field.

Cleanup crews were spotted Tuesday at the suburban Miami home where Davis was found, according to south Florida outlet Local 10.
