Victor Melleney, 76, who worked on Question Time and Panorama, denied his porn addiction included youngsters. National Crime Agency officers found 612 of the 832 images on a portable silver hard drive.

It was in a pocket in a dressing gown he was wearing when he was held in 2018 at his home in Holland Park, west London.

At Kingston Crown Court he was convicted of possessing indecent images of children.

During the raid illegal stun guns were also found. The BBC veteran admitted weapons charges.

Judge Simon Bryan handed Melleney a 22-month sentence, suspended due to his poor health including a recent heart attack.

The judge told the married dad: “You will have to live with the disgrace and ignominy that you have brought on yourself.”
