Easter payment dates: When will Universal Credit, State Pension & PIP be paid this Easter?

0

Easter Bank Holiday is almost upon us, and lockdown restrictions may make this bank holiday feel a bit stranger – with pubs closed and social distancing still in place. With many of the UK gearing up for a four day weekend, some may be wondering what impact the bank holiday has on their state benefit payment dates.

If the date you usually receive your benefit payments lands on a bank holiday, typically your payment will come early instead.

The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has now announced the date benefits will be made this Easter bank holiday.

Easter this year falls between Good Friday – Friday, April 2, and Easter Monday – Monday, April 5.

This means any payments for benefits made on these dates are due to come early in April.

Universal Credit payments are paid monthly, typically directly into a bank or building society account in your name.

Payment dates for Universal Credit can vary from case to case, as it depends on when your assessment period ends.

It can also depend on when you get any payments from work, should you be receiving in-work benefits.

If your payment is due to come on a bank holiday, you will see your Universal Credit payment arrive earlier, on Thursday, April 1.

Payment dates are also likely to be earlier for any other bank holidays in 2021, should your payment date land on one.

In April, those receiving child benefit will see a boost to their payments.

Child Benefit will increase from £21.05 per week for the first child to £21.14 per week.

Any subsequent children will then see parents receive £14 per week, an increase of 5p.
