EastEnders’ Ian Beale star Adam Woodyatt seen working on a food stall and ‘getting paid in burgers’ on break from soap

EASTENDERS star Adam Woodyatt has been spotted working on a food stall in Buckinghamshire.

The 53-year-old star, who is on a break from playing fish and chip mogul Ian Beale on the soap, looked far sunnier than his grouchy character as he served customers.

A source explained: ‘Adam had a day off between shows so decided to help a mate out’[/caption]

Adam, an EastEnders veteran who appeared in the very first episode, is touring the country in a production of Looking Dead Good.

But he appeared at Pub In The Park in Marlow to help out a friend, astonishing customers who recognised him from TV.

And he told to one customer that rather than the big bucks he gets paid for appearing on the BBC, he was getting paid in food.

Unlike the clean-shaven Beale, Adam went under the radar by sporting two things you rarely see on Ian – a beard and a smile.

A source told The Sun: “Adam had a day off between shows so decided to help a mate out.

“He spent all day serving people on the busy food stall – he really looked like he knew what he was doing.

“Most people didn’t recognise him, because he looks so different these days, but some were really shocked to see Ian Beale behind a till.

“He joked with some punters that he wasn’t really the EastEnders legend – and he told some customers he was being paid in food!”

Adam has hinted in the past that he may not ever return as Ian Beale – and insisted he won’t be back on screens until 2022 “at the earliest”.

Asked about his return on The One Show in May he said: “I don’t know. The tour runs until the end of October, my daughter is then getting married in America.

“There is a possibility the tour will carry on until early next year, so if the tour carries on I won’t be back in EastEnders until 2022 at the earliest.”

Adam was last seen on screen in January, with his character Ian wandering away from Walford in a daze after best-friend-turned-wife Sharon tried to murder him.
