An electric scooter rider slammed into two pedestrians crossing the street near Macy’s Herald Square, police said Monday.
One of the pedestrians in the Saturday night collision, a 51-year-old man, suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition. The other pedestrian, a 43-year-old woman, was also taken to Bellevue with less serious injuries to her face and body.
The scooter rider, 23, suffered less serious injuries and was taken to Bellevue in stable condition.
He has not been arrested or summonsed, but police Monday said the incident is still being investigated.
Police said the scooter rider was heading north on Sixth Ave. near W. 34th St. in the right lane when he struck the pedestrians as they stepped into the avenue to cross the street.
