Driver fatally strikes pedestrian crossing East New York, Brooklyn, street


A 36-year-old man was struck and killed while crossing a Brooklyn street Monday, police said.

The man was traversing Linden Blvd. at Ashford St. in East New York around 1:20 p.m., according to cops.

At the same time, a 59-year-old man behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Malibu was heading east on the boulevard.

The driver slammed into the pedestrian, who was thrown to the pavement. Medics rushed him to Brookdale University Hospital, but he could not be saved.

The driver remained on the scene and was did not immediately face charges.

The victim’s name was not released as police worked to notify his family of the death.
