Double child killer Colin Pitchfork sent back to prison just months after being released

He was given a life sentence for the murders in January 1988 after entering a guilty plea.

His release incensed a number of MPs and family members of the young victims.

The Government then formally challenged the Parole Board’s decision, claiming the choice to release Pitchfork back into society was “irrational.”

However, a subsequent review concluded that Pitchfork could be released, after being denied freedom in 2016 and 2018.
