Donald Trump wildly suggested he 'would have bombed’ Russia and China in furious rant

Donald Trump raised eyebrows after suggesting he would have bombed Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine and responded militarily if China invaded Taiwan on his watch, according to reports.

According to the Washington Post, which reported the comments, his alleged remarks at a recent fundraiser surprised some of the donors in attendance.

Trump’s former ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OCSE) James Gilmore told reporters in Taiwan earlier this month that the GOP presumptive nominee is not an isolationist, as he is often characterised, and believes he “will be supportive of Taiwan when he becomes president.”

China claims Taiwan is its own territory, and has long-threatened an invasion of the country despite stern warnings from the US and other allies.

During his term in the White House, Trump supported Taipei and provided arms sales to the country, which Joe Biden’s administration has continued.

Trump has also poured praise on the leadership of Russia autocrat Vladimir Putin and claimed last year that their positive relationship would allow him to “settle” the war in 24 hours.

But he has repeatedly suggested that support for Kyiv would have to be worthwhile for the US if he was in charge.

In February he wrote on his Truth Social site: “We should never give money anymore without the hope of a payback, or without ‘strings’ attached.”

Two months later, he posted: “As everyone agrees, Ukrainian Survival and Strength should be much more important to Europe than to us, but it is also important to us! GET MOVING EUROPE!”

Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign has been approached for comment.
