Does aspirin thin the blood? How much aspirin you should take – and when it can be harmful

Regular aspirin and baby aspirin are very different, and you should never take aspirin tablets every day.

The usual recommended dose to relieve pain is between one and two tablets, taken every four to six hours.

Never take more than 12 tablets in a 24-hour period, the NHS warned.

Taking one or two extra aspirin tablets is unlikely to be harmful, but the amount of tablets that can lead to an overdose varies from person-to-person.

Speak to a doctor straight away if you’ve taken large quantities of aspirin, and develop nausea, tinnitus, confusion, or dizziness.
