DIY SOS expert Mark Millar will be starring in his own brand new series on Channel 5 called Dream Kitchens and Bathrooms. The show will see Mark use his 30 years of experience to help homeowners transform the most important rooms in their homes. Mark shared his kitchen and bathroom tips exclusively with Express.co.uk, including what the most durable flooring is.

“But if you get a porcelain floor, watch you don’t slip,” he added.

Porcelain floor tiles come in a variety of textures, colours and shapes, so you’ll likely find something that suits your needs.

For a cheap yet durable option, Mark recommended laminate flooring.

He continued: “One of your cheapest and most durable options is probably a laminate floor.

“But there are so many things out there, there’s a beautiful floor called an LVT which is a luxury vinyl tile.

“That can be laid down and it also adds a bit of warmth to the floor as well.

“It’s actually a very good product to use in a kitchen.”

Laminate flooring can be found for as low as £5 per square metre but installation could cost anywhere between £8 and £12 per square metre.

Some laminates may cost up to £15 per square metre if they’re at the higher end.

Some fitters do charge a daily rate which can be anywhere from £100 upwards.

LVT is more expensive but is cheaper than traditional stone or wood flooring.

Dream Kitchens and Bathrooms will offer viewers budget tips, ideas and inspiration for their own kitchens and bathrooms.

Mark described the show as “positive and cheery” during quite a “sad and dark” time amidst the pandemic.

The building expert is known for his role on BBC1’s DIY SOS and How Safe is Your House.

He has worked behind the scenes on several television programmes as a builder and has his own building firm.

Dream Kitchens and Bathrooms with Mark Millar starts 7pm, Tuesday 27th April on Channel 5
