One TikTok user in the comments section stated that the powder alone lightened up their underarms, but others were sceptical about the routine.
Dermatology and aesthetic RGN Emma Coleman says she’s rarely asked by clients in the UK for underarm lightening but that there is certainly a market for it in other areas of the world.
While this treatment might seem harmless, Emma warns that it could do more harm than good.
She said: “This girl appears to be using some sort of bath milk, deodorant, talcum powder and Johnson’s baby products to lighten her armpits.
“Apart from the fact I don’t see how they will impact skin tone at all, these products could cause other issues such as clogging of hair follicles, inflammation and in-growing hairs which would need to be treated by a dermatologist or medical expert.”
