- The American’s teeth started bleeding after several punches by the Moldovan
- Clark ended up losing the light-heavyweight clash via an unanimous decision
- Cutelaba admitted it was not the most brutal injury he has inflicted on a rival
Devin Clark’s teeth were left battered and bloodied after the American MMA fighter was beaten convincingly by Ion Cutelaba during Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 37 event.
The 31-year-old suffered an unanimous decision defeat to Moldovan star but needed treatment on his teeth after the second round when his medics and father spotted that blood was coming from the bottom of his mouth.
Clark carried on but did not do enough to claim victory over Cutelaba, with the American now suffering back-to-back losses after he was defeated by countryman Anthony Smith last November.

The victorious Moldovan fighter admitted that he knew how strong his punches were but insisted that the bloody teeth is not the worst injury he has inflicted on an opponent.
‘I am very strong with my punches,’ Cutelaba said in his post-fight interview. ‘But Clark is a really good fighter and I am strong and my punches are tough but he was a strong opponent.
‘But I have inflicted other injuries on other opponents with my elbow and knee, it isn’t the worst.

‘”The Hulk” is back, I’m staying here. I’m staying here this night. Thank you so much, Devin Clark. Good fight. I respect you. The next fight is fighting the top (of the division).’
The light-heavyweight contest was dominated by Cutelaba and several MMA stars took to social media to confess how emphatic the Moldovan’s victory was.
Former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier tweeted: ‘Bald headed, bearded Ion is going crazy right now!!!! #UFCVegas37’
Speaking about the fight, former welterweight champion Alan Jouban posted: ‘Knocked his teeth out! #UFCVegas37’

Meanwhile, undefeated American MMA star Tatiana Suarez tweeted: ‘Literally about to gag thinking about Devins teeth being almost knocked out #UFCVegas37’
And fellow American MMA fighter Cody Durden said on Saturday: ‘Ion Cutelaba with a dominate performance! Good takedowns.’
Cutelaba, meanwhile, ended a run of three fights without a victory, with his last win before Saturday night coming against Khalil Rountree Jr in September 2019.
The Moldovan lost twice to Magomed Ankalaev in 2020 before getting a draw with Dustin Jacoby in May of this year.
