Whether you’ve invited guests over for dinner or just want a sweet treat for yourself, chocolate puddings are a perfect choice, with chef Hayley Dean revealing her recipe for the delicious dessert that takes just ten minutes in your air fryer.
Hayley’s recipe from her upcoming book How to Make Anything in an Air Fryer: Easy Dinners! is the perfect dessert for impressing any guests while also not spending hours in the kitchen.
She said: “These are a dinner party staple as they never fail to impress guests, especially when they discover the hidden surprise…
“I sneak a few caramel chocolate buttons into each pudding mould before baking, so you get a burst of liquid caramel as you scoop through the molten chocolate pudding.”
Here’s how to make Hayley’s melt-in-the-middle chocolate puddings….
Melt-in-the-middle Chocolate Puddings
Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 4 tablespoons cocoa powder, plus an extra 2 teaspoons for dusting
- 100g salted butter, melted, plus extra for greasing
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 150g caster sugar
- 80g self-raising flour
- 12 caramel chocolate buttons
- Pouring cream, to serve (optional)
Equipment
4 dariole moulds, or a muffin tray that fits in your air fryer.
Method
Grease four dariole moulds well with butter and then dust them with the 2 teaspoons of cocoa – make sure you thoroughly coat each mould in cocoa. Put a disc of parchment paper on the base of each mould.
Preheat the air fryer to 180°C.
Add the cocoa to the melted butter in a bowl, then mix to combine. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until a little foamy. Pour in the cocoa mixture then sift in the four and fold together until combined. Spoon the chocolatey mixture into the prepared dariole moulds and then push three chocolate buttons down into each pudding, until just submerged.
Cook the puddings at 180°C for 8 minutes, then let them stand for 1 minute. Using a small palette knife or dessert knife, loosen the puddings before turning out onto plates. Eat immediately, with a little cream poured over, if you like.
