Darts rivals paired together in World Cup clash after being attacked by football hooligans

Despite their ongoing feud, Kim Huybrechts is set to partner with Dimitri van den Bergh at the World Cup of Darts.

The pair look set to put their differences aside and come together to form the Belgium team for the trip to Frankfurt, Germany, in a shock announcement.

Van den Bergh is the No. 1 darts player in the country and was therefore a certainty to feature in the competition, though eyebrows were raised when his name was published next to Huybrecht’s given their recent conflict.

Huybrecht had to battle it out with Mike de Decker to ensure that he would feature, despite both players having their own respective feuds with Van den Bergh.

Huybrecht and Van den Bergh joined forces earlier this week when beating Finland 4-0, though their issues do not appear to have been resolved as the pair refused to even look at each other throughout the match.

The duo were also reluctant to shake hands and it was later confirmed that they were not on talking terms, with Viaplay claiming that it is because Van den Burgh is filing a complaint related to his new-found teammate to the Professional Darts Corporation.

It remains to be seen how the pair cope when they are side by side and the tensions are running high at the World Cup of Darts, especially as Huybrechts will need as much support as possible given that he is still recovering from injury.

The darts star was attacked by hooligans after the Belgian Cup final between Royal Antwerp and Union Saint-Gilloise. Huybrechts sustained a double fracture in his right shoulder after he was tackled to the ground and punched and kicked by a mob of hooligans. His friend was also attacked by the group.
