This is the hilarious moment a fun-loving Labrador was left baffled when a statue of a dogwalker wouldn’t play fetch with her.

Daisy was on a walk with her owner Zach Dyer in Lake Sacajawea Park in Longview, Washington, when the pair found a statue of a man poised to throw a ball for his statue dog.

Adorable footage shows Daisy the dog running up to the statue and patiently waiting for it to throw the metal ball it holds in its hand.

When the statue doesn’t immediately respond Daisy starts running around in circles, getting ready to follow the ball.

She then runs around to the front of the statue still hoping it will somehow decide to throw the ball.

Mr Dyer posted the adorable video to Facebook on April 16 with the caption: ‘Daisy couldn’t figure out why this guy wouldn’t throw the ball.’

The statue, entitled Best Friends, was created in 2001 by Georgia Gerber in memory of Violet Davidson Hart and Harvey Blake Hart who was manager of the port of Longview for 42 years.

The couple were pioneers in Longview and the inscription on the statue says they ‘gave many years of leadership to community organizations and projects’.

And it’s not the first time a confused dog has been left disappointed when a statue didn’t decide to play with them.

Ten-year-old springer spaniel Chester tried to play fetch with a fisherman statue in Watchet Harbour, Somerset, after mistaking it for a person on July 14, 2020

In 2020, Chester, a ten-year-old springer spaniel, dropped his tennis ball at the feet of a fisherman statue in Watchet Harbour, Somerset, UK.

He patiently waited for the statue, called Yankee Jack, to throw the ball for him in footage filmed on on July 14.

Chester did not seem to understand why the seated statue failed to move, repeatedly picking up the ball and placing it at the statue’s feet.
