Covid new strain symptoms warning: The three most common signs of coronavirus infection

0

Covid has killed more than 140,000 people in the UK since the start of the pandemic, and health officials have sent a fresh alert about new variants across the world. The most common symptoms of coronavirus could be easily mistaken for something less serious, however.

England and Scotland are still in the middle of a third nationwide lockdown.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has now outlined his roadmap out of Covid restrictions.

The first set of restrictions are set to be lifted on March 29, with the re-introduction of the ‘Rule of Six’.

But the Government has still urged the public to remain vigilant against coronavirus symptoms.

“So far, research has shown that the new Brazilian variant of the virus shares the same key symptoms that are already synonymous with COVID-19,” Abdeh told Express Health.

“The symptoms of this variant are a continuous cough, a high temperature and losing one’s sense of taste or smell.

“However, it is important to bear in mind that you can still be asymptomatic with this strain of the virus, just as you can be with the original UK variants.

“It is still very early days in the analysis of the Brazilian variant and it’s symptoms, therefore people should be extra vigilant in making sure they are socially distancing, washing their hands regularly and checking for any symptoms that may be a sign of COVID-19.”

The three most important signs of infection are a new, continuous cough, a high fever, and a loss of smell or taste.

If you develop any of these symptoms, you should get tested for Covid straight away.

If your test comes back negative, you can return to ‘normal’ lockdown life.

But if the test is positive, you should self-isolate for at least 10 days.

Some patients have reported a number of other symptoms linked to the coronavirus infection, however.

Tiredness, unusual rashes, night sweats, and diarrhoea could all be signs of the infection.

More than 4.2million people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK over the past 12 months.

But, almost 22million people have now received their first dose of the Covid vaccine.
