Cook a mouthwatering beef stew with 5 ingredients using Jamie Oliver’s tasty recipe

Autumn is a time to stay warm indoors and eat your favourite comfort food, and there is no food more comforting than a hearty beef stew.

Jamie Oliver’s sticky mustard beef stew is incredibly easy to make as all you need is five ingredients to make it.

This delicious recipe only takes eight minutes to prepare before the stew slowly cooks in the oven for four hours.

Not only is this stew deliciously tender but it can feed eight people, so is perfect to impress loved ones as a family meal.

If you have never made stew before then this simple recipe is beginner-friendly so it can be made without any fuss so you can enjoy this cosy autumn dish.

Method

To begin, preheat the oven to 160C or Gas Mark 3.

Place a large shallow casserole pan and a frying pan on a high heat on the stove.

Chop the beef into five-centimetre chunks, season with a generous amount of pepper and a pinch of salt, and then dry fry without any oil in the frying pan for eight minutes.

While the beef is cooking, wash and trim the carrots. Chop the carrots into five-centimetre chunks, and place them in the casserole pan with one tablespoon of olive oil.

Peel, quarter the onions and then break them apart into petals. Add the onion petals straight into the casserole pan.

Once the meat is a good colour add it to the casserole pan. Add the Worcestershire sauce and mustard to the pan, then pour in 800ml of water.

Cover the casserole pan with a lid and then place it in the oven. Let it cook for four hours until the beef is meltingly tender,

Make sure to check on the stew regularly to give it a stir or loosen it with a splash of water.

After the time is up your mouthwatering strew with beef that will melt in your mouth is ready to serve.
