Chelsea are said to be interested in bringing Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku back to the club at the end of the season. The Blues are also reportedly eyeing a move for Villarreal defender and Manchester United target Pau Torres, while AC Milan appear determined to land Fikayo Tomori on a permanent basis. Express Sport brings you the latest transfer news from Stamford Bridge.
Blues considering Lukaku bid
Chelsea’s interest in Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland has been well-documented over the last few months.
However, the Bundesliga side’s decision to slap a hefty £154million price tag on their star man has led the Blues to explore other avenues.
A top-class striker appears to be a top priority ahead of the transfer window, and Lukaku is among those being considered by the club’s hierarchy, according to the Telegraph.
The Belgium international was famously sold by former boss Jose Mourinho in 2014 after failing to break into the side, before going on to play for Everton, Manchester United and Inter.
JUST IN: Chelsea eye Haaland transfer replacement that will infuriate Conte
His impressive return of 19 goals in 26 league appearances has helped the San Siro giants to pull away at the top of the Serie A table, with a first Scudetto since 2010 well and truly on the cards.
A summer move would be a huge blow for ex-Blues boss Antonio Conte, who has managed to extract the very best from Lukaku during his time at Inter.
Torres on Chelsea’s radar
Chelsea are also believed to be in the hunt for a new central defender with the futures of Tomori and Thiago Silva still uncertain.
The latter is yet to sign a contract extension at Stamford Bridge, meaning that he could leave at the end of the season upon the expiry of his one-year deal.
The Blues have been linked with the likes of David Alaba and Niklas Sule in recent months, but according to The Athletic, they have turned their attention to Villarreal defender Torres.
The 24-year-old has been tipped to join Manchester United in the summer, with the Red Devils also keen admirers.
It is claimed that Chelsea have been scouting Torres for a number of months ahead of a potential approach for his services.
The defender’s contract is said to include a £45m release clause, while Villarreal could also be open to a player-plus-cash offer.
Baresi issues Tomori claim
AC Milan’s honorary vice-president Franco Baresi has claimed that Il Rossonerri will do everything in their power to keep hold of Tomori beyond the end of the season.
The 23-year-old joined Milan on a six-month loan deal during the January transfer window, and has gained plenty of new admirers with his performances at the back.
The Serie A club have the option to buy Tomori in the summer, but could make an attempt to negotiate a lower transfer fee with Chelsea.
Baresi told La Gazzetta Dello Sport: “We’ll do everything to sign him on a permanent deal. Two months are remaining until the end of the season, and it’s not only up to Milan.
“Tomori is imposing himself with talent and determination. He has shown no fear to play in a new league.
“Potentially, he can become a great champion. I hope he lives up to expectations.”
