Chelsea chaos as four stars embroiled in heated arguments after horrible West Brom loss

Chelsea have been forced to contend with four players getting into heated arguments in the aftermath of their stunning 5-2 defeat to relegation-battling West Brom on Saturday. Antonio Rudiger had to be sent inside early from training on Sunday, according to reports.

The Blues were convincingly beaten by the 19th-placed Baggies at Stamford Bridge over the Easter weekend as the visitors took ruthless advantage of Thiago Silva’s first-half red card to end a 14-match unbeaten run under Thomas Tuchel.

Christian Pulisic had put Chelsea 1-0 up two minutes earlier but Matheus Pereira’s brace had West Brom in front at the break and Callum Robinson and Mbaye Diagne both stretched the lead.

Mason Mount pulled one back for Chelsea after coming off the bench but Sam Allardyce’s charges held off the hosts before Robinson clinched a brace of his own with a stoppage-time strike.

And Telegraph Sport say that although Tuchel urged his side not to lose their heads post-match, Rudiger and Kepa Arrizabalaga were involved in a training ground bust-up on Sunday.

That follows a dressing room exchange between Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta in the immediate aftermath of the defeat.

Kepa is said to have been angered after a late challenge from Rudiger in a small-sided match on Sunday, with the two then pushing one another and having to be separated.

Rudiger was kept out of the final few minutes of the session after failing to calm down but went to apologise to his team-mate later on in the afternoon.

Chelsea boss Tuchel is said to be satisfied that the incident has been put to bed after Rudiger’s apology.

While the Londoners are also confident that there will be no repercussions of Azpilicueta and James’ exchange at Stamford Bridge 24 hours earlier.

The pair trained without issue and are said to have had private discussions to ensure there were no lasting ill effects of their verbal back and forth.

But Tuchel will be keen to ensure tempers are cool going into a crunch Champions League quarter-final first-leg with Porto on Wednesday night.

Speaking after the loss to West Brom, his first in charge of the club, Tuchel declared: “We can’t, after 15 or 14 matches [without losing], lose our head. We can’t take away the trust that we have in these players.

“It was the moment after the game to be honest, but to be calm and to breathe and tell everybody to breathe. It will be a hard afternoon for everybody I think, a hard evening.

“We were the first to start this match-day and we had completely different plans as to how to start this match-day so we have to accept it now.

“It is our first loss together. It is important to find a way to deal with it together, and that everyone knows what I feel like a part of it.

“So there were some quick words to calm everybody down and to delay the talks until tomorrow because now is too emotional, is too much frustration. It is not productive.”
