‘Celebrate British success!’ Princess Anne attends ball honouring UK Olympic triumph

Princess Anne is the President of the British Olympics Association and presented the ‘Olympian’s Olympian’ award to diver Tom Daley. Tom Daley won his first Olympic Gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

He also won bronze in the Men’s individual 10m platform diving.

In the Tokyo Olympics Team GB won a total of 65 medals, their second-best performance ever.

The royal family posted several images of a glammed-up Anne on their official Instagram Account.

The post was captioned: “The Princess Royal, President of the British Olympic Association, joined past and present Olympians at the @teamgb Ball to celebrate British success at @tokyo2020 and look ahead to @beijing2022.

“HRH also presented the ‘Olympian’s Olympian’ Award to @tomdaley.

“The Princess Royal has a long association with the Olympic Games, both as a competitor in the 1976 Montreal Games, and now as President of the British Olympic Association and a Member of the International Olympic Committee.”

Previously Princess Anne made an uncomfortable mistake in an Olympics committee, after forgetting to turn her microphone off and labelling another official as the “most stupid person.”

Princess Anne’s awkward error at a London Olympics committee meeting has been fondly remembered by Sebastian Coe as one of his “favourite moments” with the straight-talking royal.
