Catherine, Princess of Wales, revealed cancer was discovered following her abdominal surgery earlier this year, and that she’s currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy.
“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me for which I am so grateful,” the princess said Friday in a video shared on social media.

The two-minute clip marked the first time Kate Middleton has addressed the public since she was admitted to the London Clinic for surgery in January. She spent 13 days recovering at the renowned medical facility, and tests performed during that time confirmed the presence of cancer, she said.
While few details about the princess’ condition had been provided, Kensington Palace previously said it was not cancer-related. In a statement released at the time, the palace also warned it was unlikely Kate would be able to return to duties before Easter, but her absence from the public eye still sparked rumors, conspiracy theories and headlines in newspapers and websites around the world regarding her whereabouts.
