Countdown legend Carol Vorderman, 60, to fight back tears as she discussed her “emotional experience”. Wearing a mask, she told her 457,000 followers had her first dose of the vaccine in Bristol. “I’ve had my jab and can I just say thank you – it’s quite an emotional thing really,” she said.
“So many people here are volunteers from St John’s Ambulance to nursing staff, the lad who was helping me is joining the police force tomorrow.
“These are people with a sense of duty and service and they are doing the best for all of us.”
She added: “It’s just an extraordinary system here at Ashton Gate in Bristol.
“Thank you everybody – it’s really meaningful.”
Carol added the staff had said they want to get the jab in as many people as they can.
“That’s why they are doing it, so we are all protected and safe from this terrible thing that has been going on for the last year,” she continued.
The presenter went on to thank the NHS and all those involved with helping others.
She captioned the post: “I’ve had my jab… an emotional experience because of the smiles and joy in the faces of all the volunteers here at @ashtongatestad in Bristol.
“Thank you for your duty and service for good. You are extraordinary #Vaccination #ThankYouNHS #ThankYouVolunteers.”
Many of Carol’s fans shared their thoughts on her post.
