Bride who made £60,000 selling crack cocaine is told to repay just £300

Terrie Renwick, 29, had planned to use the cash to pay for her honeymoon but, instead of walking down the aisle last September, she was hauled before a judge. Police found her flushing the drugs down the toilet during a raid of her home, reports Liverpool Echo.

But a quick-thinking officer traced the drugs through the system and retrieved a total of 220 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine from an external pipe at the address in Warrington, Cheshire.

And Frank Dillon, prosecuting at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday, said: “It was clear these items had been flushed down the toilet by Renwick.”

Officers also found £125 in her purse and two mobile phones which contained numbers of known class A drug addicts.

The subsequent investigation found Renwick amassed £60,468.98 through her criminality and this was the total amount sought in a Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) application in court.

However,  Judge Brian Cummings, QC, ordered the woman to pay £307.96 in the next three months after Renwick’s lawyer said she didn’t have the means to pay back the huge sum.

Renwick does, however, remain in prison, and is to serve three more of her four-year spell, as sentenced last year.

When she was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court, Judge Louise Brandon said: “You’ve frankly admitted you saw this as an easy way to make money.”

Renwick admitted two counts of dealing class A drugs and possession of a taser which was found in her kitchen cupboard during the raid.

Sarah Griffin, defending in September last year, said: “This is an extremely sad situation.

“She was simply trying to raise funds for her honeymoon and resorted back to drug dealing in an easy way, in her mind, to raise such funds.”
