Billy Joel will ring in 2025 with a concert at UBS Arena on Long Island.
Joel, 75, announced the New Year’s Eve show on Thursday morning. The concert has a listed start time of 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 at the home of the New York Islanders in Belmont Park. Joel played a similar show to close out 2023.
A Ticketmaster presale will begin Monday at 10 a.m., and tickets will be released at 10 a.m. on Sept. 20 for anyone in the mood for a melody.
“Welcoming Billy Joel back to UBS Arena is the perfect way to celebrate what has been a hallmark year for the new venue,” arena executive Mark Schulman said in a press release. “Capping off a stellar year that has featured legendary performers, marquee sporting events, and family shows with our hometown hero is the perfect way to ring in the new year.”
Earlier this year, the Bronx-born and Long Island-raised Joel concluded his record-setting residency at Madison Square Garden. The final show was Joel’s 150th in the building and 104th of the residency, which began in 2014. Every show was sold out.
When launching the residency, Joel promised to keep performing until people stopped coming, but they never stopped.
“I never expected it to go 10 years,” Joel told the Daily News in July. “I have this nagging feeling of don’t outstay your welcome, don’t stay any longer where people are gonna get tired of it.”
He also admitted that he “probably will at one point or another” perform at MSG again. Though he ended the residency, Joel has continued touring. He’s scheduled to play in Cleveland on Friday night, along with upcoming dates in St. Louis, Southern California, San Antonio, Las Vegas and South Florida.
“I intend to keep working. I mean, what else am I gonna do?” Joel told the News. “Now, to be clear, if I can’t do it well anymore, I’m going to stop. I love the game too much to not do it well, but somehow or another, I’ve been able to keep singing the songs.”
