Here come the two teams!
Villa Park is usually noisy, but I’m not sure it has been this noisy in a long time.
Amid an incredible atmosphere, the players of Aston Villa and PSG – led by John McGinn and Marquinhos – make their way out on to the pitch.
Lights are flashing. Flags are flying. Flares are smoking. This is epic.
The stage couldn’t be more set for a Champions League classic, except someone didn’t get the memo with the wrong anthem played out as the players shakes hands.
Eventually, the right tune rings around this famous old stadium, and these fans will be hoping it’s not the last time they hear it on the Holte End this season.
Villa face an uphill task. It’s often when they are at their best. Kick-off comes next.
Rashford rallies the troops
Marcus Rashford has been given the nod by Unai Emery, and starts up front for Aston Villa for the fifth time in six games.
You can see the thinking behind the decision. Villa have lost just one of their eight games across all competitions that Rashford has started this season (W6 D1), netting 2.5 goals on average across those matches.
Borussia Dortmund vs Barcelona
If you though Villa’s task was hard…
Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund face the daunting challenge of having to overturn a 4, yes FOUR (!!) goal deficit to a Lamine Yamal-led Barcelona.
The last team to rescue a four-goal first-leg advantage… Barcelona in 2017. That night.
